Makaka Hall

Makaka Hall

Makaka Hall was completed in 1939. It was made of timber salvaged by local residents from the curing room of the Taungatara factory which was partially destroyed in a major flood in February 1936 (See Topic below). The Makaka hall was locally renown for its excellent dance floor - a result of wax dripping from curing cheeses at the Taungatara factory.
