"The story that goes with my poster is as follows.

With no current religious affiliations I still see Christmas as an important time.  It has evolved in Aotearoa into the time that families gather for a shared time, usually involving food, gifts and Christmas trees/decorations/lights and for Christians they also celebrate the birth of Jesus.   All of this led me to the idea of Christmas being about EXPECTATIONS.

We expect to join with whanau, we expect to give and receive gifts, we expect to follow family traditions of going to Pukekura Park to see the lights to look at the houses decorated with Christmas lights, to walk around Puke Ariki looking at the Advent Calendar, to walk together on the beach, we expect to overeat, we expect to decorate our homes, we expect to send Christmas cards/emails/texts, and this year another daughter is pregnant so I too have great expectations of another grandchild very soon.  The pregnant woman on my poster could be a modern day Mary or a pregnant daughter.  Either way when a woman is expecting the rest of the family are full of EXPECTATIONS."
