Died in Hawera, 11th December, 1917.

Ten years old when he arrived in New Zealand.

Son of James and Betsy Wills.

Married Martha Bishop.

Children: Thomas John; Albert; James Daniel; Wyndham Harry; Daniel Irwin; William; Pamela; Mabel; Settled at Bell Block with his family.

Became fluent at speaking Maori.

As a youth, Thomas spent time in Mokau.

Farmed at Bell Block.

Thomas knew well, some of the old missionaries such as Rev. Messers, Creed, Turton and was very friendly with Reverend John Whitelely.

Because of his knowledge of the Maori language, he assisted Rev. Whiteley when troubles arose.

Thomas took an active part in the Military during the Waitara land wars, becomming lieutenant under Captain Good.

He often played a role of peacemaker, healing quarrels and misunderstandings which arose between the settlers and Maori.

His family later moved to Hawera.

Thomas recieved a New Zealand medal for his war service.
