James Climo was a passenger on the William Bryan.

Born in Bodmin, Cornwall, 28th January, 1822.

Died in Havelock, N.Z., 10th September, 1911.

Son of a Cornish Farmer. 

Arrived in NP New Zealand 1 April 1841. 

Settled in NP for a time. 

First child was born in NP, Elizabeth Catherine, who was the first European born in NP. 

Moved to Pelorous Sound, in the hope of a safer existence as Taranaki was in the grip of war. 

Had 12 children. 

His colonial occupation of "pioneering" involved cutting track, pit sawing and clearing bush.

Also was a miller for a time.

However the family returned to Taranaki to settle and once again began milling. 

Here, Jane, his wife died. 

James later married Amelia Russell. 

Returned to East Coast.

Eventually settled in Havelock where he died.
