A permit was granted by the Borough Council to Mr Bertie Roberts on 4 February 1925 for the construction of a residence on Part Town Section 1570, Lemon Street - W. J. Cleland was the architect and builder, and the estimated construction cost was £800. A copy of the original plans for the home are held by NPDC.

Construction of the garage has somewhat reduced the aesthetic value of the bungalow, and has resulted in the removal of the original porch, formerly located at the front south-eastern corner of the building. The window at the front of the garage was formerly located in the front wall of the original home, and was shifted to its present position when the garage was constructed.

The roof of the house was severely damaged in a tornado that struck on 19th June 2011 - this damage was subsequently repaired.
