Glaxo Manufacturing Company - Bunnythorpe

In 1904 merchant Joseph Nathan established a factory at Bunnythorpe in which he roduced dried milk pwder under the name of 'Defiance'.

In 1906 the name was changed to Glaxo but it was to be World War I that established the name of Glaxo as and international brand.

The factory closed in 1974 and Glaxo is now part of giant chemical firm Glaxo Smith Kline.
