Laurent V.C. Oak, Hawera Watertower

Three oak trees were planted around the base of the watertower to mark the Peace/Victory after World War I. One was planted by the Hawera Mayor, the other two by local servicemen who had won Victoria Crosses during the conflict. Two streets in Hawera are also named for the V.C.s.

2. Planted by 2/Lt John G. Grant V.C. on 26 August 1919

3. Planted by 2/Lt Harry J. Laurent V.C. on 19 July 1919
