This includes the dune and the Rapanui Stream.

On the reserve just above the dune that’s next to the Rapanui Stream, a motor home was parked up. Close by, a couple with a beaten up sheet were playing tug of war with their fox terrier dog. They directed me to an easy route to the beach, down a short grassy slope, thus avoiding a logjam of flotsam logs.

After being at Te Kawau Pa, I drove down to Rapanui, but it was raining quite hard by now so I decided to go back to the Gibbs’ unit where I was staying and have lunch. Before I drove off, a farmer was having trouble starting his dead tractor which had conked out just before the Rapanui bridge (travelling south). He had trudged back up the hill to his farm and returned on a quad bike. Not being mechanically minded, I couldn’t help him out, but we said hello to each other.

MEGA-STORM. Due to the ferocious weather conditions, I could only for the most part photograph with my digital camera. This image looks back towards the bridge (main highway), that crosses the Rapanui Stream. Note how far up the sea foam has washed.
