Unveiled by Rear-Admiral Anthony Parr.

Addresses by Ahmet Ergin (Ambassador, Republic of Turkey) & Archbishop Philip Richardson. 

The soldier is facing Australia as a tribute to the Australian forces as a part of ANZAC and overlooks the site of the former  New Plymouth railway station from where many local troops departed during the 1914-18 War.
