Kahouri Stream Bridge 

Daily News 19 July 1907: Stratford County Council:...he [County Engineer E.C. Robinson] recommended that the question of renewing the Kahouri Bridge be considered as the old structure was decidedly unsafe.

Taranaki Herald  29 November 1907:Stratford C C: Mr H. McKay's tender for the renewal of the Kahouri Bridge was accepted.

Taranaki Herald 18 Sept 1908: Stratford C C: The Kahouri Bridge on the Ohura Road is nearing completion.

[The bridge's original concrete balustrades were later replaced.]

"Before the Patea River was bridged [on Skinner Road] the settlers at the East Road end of Skinner Road and surroundings had their own community. Kahouri Bridge had a [Methodist] church, [See Image below]  tennis club and branch of the W.D.F.F. but these faded away or merged with Skinner Road organisations.
