Hawera Star Building

The Hawera Star building on the corner of Regent Street and Little Regent Street was built in 1912-13. It has been associated with the newspaper industry for over 100 years.

In April 1912 advertisements appeared in the Hawera & Normanby Star calling for tenders "for the erection of offices in reinforced concrete in Regent Street for Hawera Star". The tenders were to be lodged with the well-known Hawera architect, J.A.Duffill, so it is likely he designed the building. The newspaper reported on 18 January 1913 that machinery and plant were being moved into the new premises.

In October 2016 Fairfax's South Taranaki team (Hawera Star and Taranaki Daily News) will move to new premises.
